This workbook was developed in the context of an intermediate French course (intermediate French I) taught each quarter at the University of California San Diego. The course undertakes a thorough review of grammar and develops oral and written language skills by analyzing short stories, comic strips, and movies selected from various French-speaking countries. Each unit contains biographical information about the writer under study, oral, and written exercises that integrate grammar and new vocabulary, as well as analytical questions leading to a better understanding of the cultural context of each work. Exercises are presented on detachable pages to facilitate instructors' corrections. She earned her Ph.D. from the University of Wisconsin, Madison and won the Academic Senate Distinguished Teaching Award in 2011.
