As a “transhistoric phenomenon” (Scholl), the Grotesque bridges the 17th with the 21st century and Spanish with Latin American literature. It goes beyond the borders of genres and the rules of artistic forms of expression in order to express societal changes and diminishing certitudes in both a playful and critical way. This volume primarily focuses on linguistic works of art, whilst considering relationships to stage, illustration and film.
