This 4th cemetery after the ones at Kammelhöhe, Sonneben [DF 5], and Moserfeld-Osthang [DF 6] is situated below the Hexenwand Cliff on the northern slope of Moserstein Hill. In the 1930s O. Klose investigated the modest graves 15, 103, 104, and 105 as well as the large wagon grave 112 with the famous beaked flagon of bronze. Later, grave 50 was found and re-excavation took place in several known graves. In 1990-4 K. W. Zeller dug up 22 new graves and settlement features in the western part of Hexenwand Field. Thus, 29 graves with up to 8 individuals per grave and a total of at least 72 burials are known. They cluster in the centre of the middle terrace and reach from Ha D1 to Lt B2. As to construction, we are dealing with wooden chambers in up to three levels on top of each other which were usually surrounded by stone circles and covered by small barrows. Apart from a lost cremation excavated early, there were only inhumations, usually in an east-west orientation. There is evidence for 22 women, 6 girls, 25 men, and 2 boys. Common grave goods were dress accessories, food, and potation and one third of male graves contained weapons. Most graves had been looted in antiquity.
